Hartlepool Giving Tree is a charitable initiative which has been running from Middleton Grange Shopping Centre for many years.

Due to the pandemic in 2020, the Giving Tree needed an online platform and that’s where we came in.

When Mark Rycraft from Middleton Grange got in touch with us about the Hartlepool Giving Tree, we knew instantly that we wanted to do whatever we could to help. The Giving Tree gave us a fantastic opportunity to be creative with the design and use our website development skills to help make a difference to the lives of thousands of children at Christmas.

Due to the pre-Christmas 2020 COVID restrictions, foot traffic in Middleton Grange was much lower than in previous years. We needed to create a platform to allow users to easily donate online so vulnerable children in Hartlepool would not miss out. And we had to do it quickly.

The response was unbelievable. Hartlepool Giving Tree was featured on regional news, online news channels and local radio. Over 174,000 gifts were donated by the end of the campaign, an incredible response which made the Christmas of thousands of young people across Hartlepool and beyond. We jumped at the chance to help unbox the donated deliveries arriving from all over the country. We were overwhelmed seeing the generosity of people, even in the midst of the pandemic.

After the incredible success of Hartlepool Giving Tree in 2020, the initiative won several prestigious awards.

We were lucky enough to attend TeesTech Awards in August 2021 and were beyond honoured to win the ‘Tees Tech for Good’ award for the Hartlepool Giving Tree.

Later in the year, Hartlepool Giving Tree also won Christmas Campaign of the Year at the Sceptre Awards 2021.

The Hartlepool Giving Tree relaunched in 2021 to bring Christmas magic to young people once again.

We created a short, promotional video for the Hartlepool Giving Tree in collaboration with Hartlepool United to encourage donations both online and in the shopping centre once more.
